Me and my Partner Capt. Craigh Welsh (far right) together with Capt. Ariffathilah Jamel, our check captain/flight examiner for today’s flight exam/skill test. Capt. Ariff is also the Flight Operations Manager & Quality Assurance Head for the airline. Pleased to share that I miraculously passed the ATR72-500 type rating course. Yahoo!
From emceeing the 100 years of Aviation in Malaysia to emceeing the Berjaya Air first ever poolside party in conjunction with the launch of two new routes, Pangkor & Tioman, it was a great week in the spotlight! Talk about trying to “lay low”. Anyway my flight exam is next week. Gulp! Wish me luck.
Was proud to be the emcee for today’s gala event. 100 Years of Aviation in Malaysia organized by the Dept. of Civil Aviation Malaysia, the Ministry of Transport and MAS as the venue host. Am back on the radio this week after a 2 month hiatus trying to get my ATR72 training/rating in order. So far the course is going well so I just opted to do a short quick stint back on the radio to maintain my “currency” on air ha ha. Was fun!
Now me and Capt. Craig are in the simulators. With our first session done today, we have another 12 more to go before we are both rated on the ATR72-500. Its going to be a whirlwind for sure, but it can only go downhill from here. Hanging on for the ride! Pics inside.
Now we get into the final stretch of flight training for the ATR72. Me and my sim patner, Capt. Craig Welsh will be going through the final month of training/simulator sessions before our flight test/exam on the 1st of November! Thrilled and ecstatic to have scored 93% for ATR/Systems and 95% for ATR/Performance. That marks the end of my type rating ground school. Phew! Now starting this Thursday, I jump into the Multi-Crew Cooperation course while simulators begin on Sunday! Yahoo….
So the training at the MH/FY Academy is going well. I guess. The amount of stress involved is just unimaginable, but I love doing it so its what, good stress? Ha ha.
